Toby is a hands on founder and owner. He makes sure every little thing goes smoothly by keeping a keen eye on all operations, leading the way by example, showing each Sato how to make the adventerous transition from street dog to a great life.

What is a Sato?

Sato’ is the slang word for a Puerto Rican street dog. It is estimated there are as many as half a million satos on the streets of P.R.

Satos are intelligent, friendly, and affectionate. They come in different sizes and colors, but are usually small to medium-sized, and are easily recognized by their adorable ears and lovable personality.  We believe that satos are truly special and meeting one will change your life.

Help us care for our Satos

With your generous contributions, we’re able to take on cases that other organizations cannot afford and cover additional costs related to surgery and other unanticipated medical costs. We accept PayPal, checks and gift cards from pet stores. All donations will be used for the medical and transport costs of bringing satos to the DMV.

Adopt

Our Satos are being fostered in the DMV area unless they are awaiting transport.

Here are some of our satos who are living their best lives!

Join Our Team

We are a growing community of animal lovers who believe every dog, mixed breed, sato or other deserves a great chance at life. We love to see the connection made between that second chance sato and the new family.

As a completely volunteer operation, we rely 100% on our volunteers who support our mission as foster parents, transport coordinators, administrators and much more. We could not do it without their tireless efforts.

Happy Gotcha Day!

Ana and Mark adopted Susan, now Luna, just as COVID took hold around the country. One year later, on happy “Gotcha Day” they sent us this video. We love to complete families and this reminds us of why we do what we do.
